I always like to take a few adventures this time of year – whether it’s a beach day excursion or a week-long trip to a tropical locale or a fun, walkable city. This summer you’ll find me in Malibu, Belmar Beach, Ojai, and New Orleans.
Here are my favorite pieces that I’ll be taking with me – over and over again – on every summer getaway!
1. J Brand Selena Cropped White Jeans $188
Nothing says summer more than a good pair of cropped white jeans post-Memorial Day. These white jeans have long been a summer staple for me – mainly because they literally go with everything and they have just the perfect amount of stretch to make them super comfortable. I pair them with tank tops during sweltering days (and my new Zimmermann tan leather weave belt!) and with silk blouses or tissue-weight sweaters on cooler summer evenings.
2. Hermès Oran Sandals $680
I am obsessed with these sandals. I first saw them on Damsel in Dior in brown, but I love them in white, too. Not only do they go with almost every summer look I own, but they’re also crazy comfortable. Yes, they’re pricey, but I believe if you invest in a high-quality luxury item and take good care of it, it will last a long, long time.
3. Bembien Classic Belly Bag $65
I carry this sustainably made bag inside my larger tote to the pool or beach and when I get up to go to lunch (or a quick bathroom break), I just bring this smaller bag with my wallet, phone, and lip balm. It’s also serves as a super cute carry bag for any summertime evening soiree.

Everyone needs a classic white tee and I love the deep v-neckline on this one. The perfect backdrop to your favorite pendant or layered gold chains.
5. The Female Persuasion $19.58
What’s a summer beach trip without a great read? I loved Meg Wolitzer’s earlier novel, The Interestings, so I thought I would give this one a try. It’s about female friendship, mentorship and feminism – quite timely, wouldn’t you say? I’ll let you guys know what I think after I read it.
6. Roxanne Assoulin Gold Mixer Bracelet $80
One of my best friends gave me this bracelet for my birthday back in April and it was love at first sight. First of all, it was given by a bestie, so there’s that, but it’s also the p-e-r-f-e-c-t bracelet. Seriously. It’s a chevron-style, polished gold plate stretch bracelet that comes in two sizes – 7” and 6 ½” – so if you have small wrists like me, you can order the smaller size so it won’t slide down your hand. It stands out worn as a single piece, but it also plays well with other jewelry. I love it so much I’m considering buying another one and stacking them.
7. Zara Round-Neck White Dress with Topstitching $69.90
I first saw this dress on The Flair Index Instagram account and quickly clicked over to my friend Jennifer Alfano’s blog to see the full details. I loved the light and airy look with the detailed topstitching. I immediately ordered it and it didn’t disappoint in person. It’s the perfect day to evening summer dress that could even function as a loose beach cover-up. I will pair mine with the tan Zimmerman leather weave belt, Hermès sandals and the Bembien belly bag for a cool summer look that works every time.
8. Zimmermann Weave Buckle Belt in Tan $150
I know I said I was obsessed with the Hermès Oran sandals (and I am!), but I might be even more obsessed with this slightly boho, tan weave leather belt from Zimmermann – it literally goes with everything this summer! From the Zara round neck dress, to the cropped white jeans or shorts, to dark blue jeans and more, this will be my go-to belt for the season.
9. Leith Malibu One-Piece Swimsuit $89
There’s something about a yellow one-piece swimsuit that has chic written all over it this summer. I love the deep v-neckline and high-cut legs. It’s slightly demure, but then again, not so much. And at this price, you may want the black one, too.

11. Jimmy Choo Dree Round-Frame Gold-Tone Sunglasses $475 on sale for $190!
I have to admit that these retro sunglasses were a bit of an impulse purchase, but they did not disappoint. I am a sucker for a good gradient, and the round frames and gold tone is flattering on my heart-shaped face. The tortoise arms add a nice detail to an already beautiful pair of sunglasses that will see me through many sunny days.

This sturdy yet lightweight cute striped tote made out of tarp material will carry all of your basic summer essentials and a bag of chips! And it’s $18. ‘Nuff said.

This peasant-style top, paired with the cropped white jeans, is the perfect look for summer. And I’m a huge fan of denim-on-denim and will be pairing it with dark indigo jeans for fall, too. And did I mention that it’s on sale? Kind of a no-brainer.
