Garcelle has been a co-host for E’s Fashion Police and Access Hollywood Live. She was recently named one of the 50 Most Beautiful Women 2014 by People Magazine and is a regular contributor to their Moms&Babies blog.
In addition to her busy schedule as an actress, Garcelle was inspired by motherhood to write a children’s book series entitled ‘I AM,’ addressing identity issues relevant to many children today. The first book, I Am Mixed, focuses on children of mixed ethnicities and was released in August 2013. The second in the series, I Am Living in Two Homes, helps children deal with the realities of divorce and was released last year.
Garcelle supports Step Up Women’s Network, a national non-profit that empowers women and girls to reach their full potential. She is also active with the March of Dimes, Children Uniting Nations, and Yele Haiti Foundation.

Warm, funny, fearless.
2. Tell us why you’re awesome in two sentences or less.
I am awesome because I try to live my truth every day and I truly care about others. I also want to be the best mommy ever.

Shopping for shoes, yummy meals, spoiling my kids.

My three boys: Oliver, Jax and Jaid (and Sunfare Food Delivery when I’m getting ready for a big project!).
6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Rudeness and people who drive with their dogs on their laps.
7. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not) who would it be?
I would love to have dinner with Michelle Obama. I’d like to learn about her experience as a woman – and as a black woman – in the White House, and where she sees herself after all this. And of course, we would talk fashion, fashion, fashion because I adore her style!
8. What does it mean to you to have a strong, engaging brand and how has having one helped you?
I think now branding is everything – everything you say and do is a part of your brand. It’s a way of letting others know who you are. A strong, clear brand allows people to get a sense of you when they interact with you – whether it’s through your website or in-person. You want to be able to connect with people in a meaningful way, and I‘ve been able to do this as an actor (with some help from SheBrand!) through my website and social media platforms.
9. What is your #1 tip for fellow women entrepreneurs?
If you’re really passionate about something, then you must go for it 100 percent!!! Give it your all. It’s much better to know you tried, then to later regret not trying at all.
