I love it when people can focus on product and product solutions without getting political or personal. Team sports teaches you how and when to share the ball so the entire team can win. I consider the musical arts team sports by the way – band, orchestra, choir, anywhere groups of people compete personally and work together for the best product.

Michelle Obama.
7. What does it mean to you to have a strong, engaging brand and how has having one helped you?
At BlogHer, we’ve learned that our brand is synonymous with trust. Trust ignites conversations for BlogHer and helps our business grow because our community feels: like they know who we are and what our motivation is: To grow WITH our community, not just make money off of influencers. We’re a mission-led for-profit that exists to create opportunities for women and men in social media to gain additional exposure, education, community and economic empowerment.
8. What is your #1 tip for fellow women entrepreneurs?
Don’t ask for permission to start a business – DO IT. And then don’t give up.
Lisa’s got soul. and I will def have to try La Bodeguita when I get to Palo Alto, CA for BlogHer.
La Bodeguita is awesome. There’s also a great Cuban restaurant in San Jose itself, near where I live, called Habana Cuba. I’ll take you there 🙂
