1. What are three words that best describe your personal brand?

Whimsical, Passionate, Sincere

2. Tell us why you’re awesome in two sentences or less?

I don’t think I am awesome, but people seem to find my enthusiasm contagious so that’s nice to hear when it comes up sometimes. I wish I were genuinely awesome, to be frank.

3. What are your three biggest indulgences

1) Tweeting

2) Cheese

3) Long Trail Walks/Runs

4. What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who put other people down because they’re different than themselves. We need many flavors of personalities, races, creeds, beliefs and cultures for the world to be interesting and not mundane.

5. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not) who would it be and why?

This may sound strange, but it’s Max Bretos, an anchor on ESPN. I met him recently and he is hilarious, so a great dinner companion for amusement I imagine. He was the voice of Fox Soccer for many years and as someone passionate about growing the game in America I’d love to hear stories about MLS soccer when it was young… I’m sure he has a lot of interesting tales to tell about the boys that brought soccer to the US.

6. Why is having a powerful personal brand important to you?

I am a person who always has some sort of passionate project going on, whether it’s growing a new business, creating a software product or for example, forming our soccer community for women called Women United FC. Because I’m fairly visible online talking about these things, a personal brand (whether intended as one or not) is going to be formed by people who watch me. My goal is to someday follow a million people online, who are all as crazy, smart, funny and informative as my favorite connections are now. The power of my personal brand lies in having a large network of people to interact with and enabling people (via software and social media) to interact in meaningful ways with each other about the things they care about.

7. What is your #1 marketing tip for fellow female entrepreneurs?

Know when to quit, regroup, start over, rethink or reinvent what you’re doing. We don’t always get what we aim for out of the gate. If you want to create your own business/life/project you have to be willing to learn continuously and not give up – even if that means giving up an older dream to find another better suited for where you are and what you want now!
