Emily Fletcher is the founder of Ziva and the creator of zivaMIND, the first online meditation training program. Emily began her extensive meditation training in Rishikesh, India under world-renowned meditation instructors. She was inspired to become a meditation instructor after experiencing the profound physical and mental benefits it provided her during her 10-year career on Broadway, which included roles in Chicago, The Producers, A Chorus Line and many others.
With her high performance background and her eight years of meditation experience, Emily is perfectly suited to teach busy people how to incorporate this simple and hugely effective practice into their lives. She was recently invited to speak at GATE, the Global Alliance for Transformational Entertainment with Jim Carey and Eckhart Tolle and will be appearing on The Ricki Lake show. She has taught meditation to a wide range of people and companies including Coca Cola, Ogilvy & Mather, Satya Jewelry, The Executive Source and in public school systems in the Bronx. Emily is a contributing writer for The Huffington Post, Mind Body Green & Lawrence Zarian’s book coming out in 2014.

1. What are three words that best describe you?
Tall, strong, and blissy.
2. Tell us why you’re awesome in two sentences or less?
I have dedicated my life to helping people get their bliss on. If I find something that works I want to share it with the world.

Homemade raw whipped cream with vanilla, watching TV with my boyfriend after dinner and in-home Ayurvedic treatments

5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People spitting in front of me. It happens about 20 times a day in NYC and makes me bonkers. Why can’t they wait until they pass me or not do it at all.
6. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not) who would it be?
Marie Forleo. I want to be on MarieTV so bad it hurts*. (*It doesn’t actually hurt, I just think it would be such a turning point for me, Ziva and MarieTV to be able to share this incredible gift of meditation with so many people lighting up their communities.)
7. What does it mean to you to have a strong, engaging brand and how has having one helped you?
Having a strong engaging brand simply means you know who you are, what you do and you manage to communicate that to people in an authentic and consistent way. If you can do that in life it is much easier to do with your company.
8. What is your #1 tip for fellow women entrepreneurs?
Celebrate your successes! You can’t build on top of success you don’t acknowledge. Let go of guilt. You know the thing that thinks you should be working with you are with your family and the thing that thinks you should be with your family when you are working? That thing is useless and doesn’t serve anyone. Oh yeah..last thing. Meditate. It will make everything better.
