1. What are three words that best describe you?

Charitable, Stylish, Driven

2. Tell us why you’re awesome in two sentences or less?

I would never describe myself as awesome, but what is truly awesome is AskMissA.com’s mission – to shine a spotlight on the best charity events, cause marketing campaigns and philanthropic & stylish people, businesses and brands to inspire others to get involved. We believe in the positive power of volunteering and charity — not only to benefit those less fortunate, but to improve the individual, business or brand that gives their time, money and energy to a cause.

I’m not really about indulgence. I am very focused, practical and purposeful in all aspects of my life.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Life is short, and we have so much to be thankful for each day. There are so many people in the world who are truly suffering, so it makes no sense to waste time talking about and worrying about things of little significance. If you are centered – know yourself, believe in what you do, and know what is truly important – you can keep your inner peace and not get frustrated by what is happening externally.

6. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not) who would it be?

Princess Diana. I have so much admiration for her. She had such style and grace and really used her position to bring attention to campaigns against the use of landmines and fighting AIDS. In April 1987, the Princess of Wales was the first high-profile celebrity to be photographed touching an AIDS-infected person. I credit her with leading the way and inspiring celebrities to use their fame for good.

7. What does it mean to you to have a strong, engaging brand and how has having one helped you?

I really didn’t set out to create a brand. It really developed organically and is based on my history and values. I created a platform which links dozens of editors and hundreds of writers around a common belief in giving back and covering the growing intersection of charity and lifestyle.

8. What is your #1 tip for fellow women entrepreneurs?

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”
― Joseph Campbell

I had heard people say that if you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work at all. I used to think this was a bunch of BS. I didn’t find my “bliss” until my 30’s, but am blessed to have found it all. I think some people never find theirs. You can’t force it. It’s as rare as finding a “soul mate”. Once you discover your purpose and passion, it really brings so much clarity and direction to your life.
