1. What are three words that best describe your personal brand?
Transparent, Fun and of course, Kick-ass.
2. Tell us why you’re awesome in two sentences or less.
Everyone has a heartbreaking story, and I certainly have mine. On the other side, I’ve learned to love myself unconditionally, including my body. I write about it and advocate teaching this to the next generation of girls. I have been called to empower women to know they are, and have always been freakin’ awesome.
3. What are your three biggest indulgences?
1) Dates with my husband. We have 2 kids, ages 3 and 1, so our conversations are always rich and inspiring when we have time to sit down and talk over dinner with no interruptions.
2) Running shoes. As a runner, a great pair of running shoes are essential!
3) Really good hair conditioner. The cheap stuff makes my hair feel like hay.
4. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Aggressive drivers.
5. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not) who would it be and why?
My maternal grandmother who died 11 years before I was born. I would want to get to know her, and soak up everything I could about her. Hopefully she would be proud of me for being outspoken, courageous and sassy, just like she was.
6. Why is having a powerful personal brand important to you?
It’s important that people know what they’re getting when they hire me for coaching, sign on for a program, or even sit down to read my blog. It’s sort of like going on a first date and laying all the cards out on the table right away. Saying, “This is me, this is how I am, if you don’t like it, find someone else, okay?”
7. What is your #1 marketing tip for fellow female entrepreneurs?
Run your own race. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to other females in every aspect of life, entrepreneurship is no different. I know there are times when my inner-critic is addicted to telling me all the things I’m NOT doing with my business and I have to manage it. Find what triggers you and do what you can to combat the comparison game.
