1. What are three words that best describe you?
Passionate, hard-working, open-minded.
2. Tell us why you’re awesome in two sentences or less.
I’d rather not. I’m just doing the very best I can each and every day. Some days rock, some days suck… all any of us can do on any given day, is to rock life with all we got.
3. What are your three biggest indulgences?
A great Cabernet, a deep tissue massage, and a live music concert.
4. What’s currently your favorite…
Restaurant: I loved Hotel Costes in Paris last month. Great music, great food, great vibe. I love Paris!
Food: Greek or Indian.
Cocktail: Lychee martini.
Shopping destination/store: Soho in NYC.
Fashion item: My iPhone! Yes, I don’t care that much for brand names and fashion items but I need my iPhone with my music!!!
City: New York.
Travel item: My Bose speaker. I won’t travel anywhere without my music.
Beauty product: YSL – Highlighter to brighten my eyes right before I go on my weekly live TV segment Wednesday mornings.
Skincare product: Don’t laugh – Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty!
Hostess gift: Towels or candles with the person’s initials.
Home décor item: Candles, flowers, pictures.
Book: Kane and Abel or The Alchemist.
Website: My goodness, I have no clue. I read so many. Probably Huffington Post or The Drudge Report.
Magazine: Success Mag.
5. What’s the ONE thing you absolutely can’t live without?
My family. Maybe not the answer you were looking for, but it’s the truth.
6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Passive-aggressive people. If you have something to say, spit it out. But don’t mope or mumble under your breath and expect me to read minds. Have the courage to say what you need to say.
7. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or not) who would it be?
Oprah. Ellen. Richard Branson. Phil Knight. Ralph Lauren. Steve Jobs, Jimmy Kimmel or Jimmy Fallon (I’d take either Jimmy). And Stevie Wonder – cuz maybe he’d sing to me (I LOVE STEVIE WONDER).
I would have dinner with anyone who has mastered their craft. People who are at the top of their game. Anyone who has given birth to an idea and grown it, who understands what it means to fail, to struggle, and then to soar –those are the stories I love to hear.
8. What does it mean to you to have a strong, engaging brand and how has having one helped you?
What’s important to me, is to do good work, and to make a difference. The powerful brand part comes on its own, when day after day, you do good work. There’s a saying that goes, “If you take care of your character, your reputation will take care of itself.” That goes the same for any brand.
Having a strong brand has helped me accomplish my goals and dreams. It’s as simple as that.
9. What is your #1 tip for fellow women entrepreneurs?
1? How can I say only 1? I’ll make it quick.
Be authentic. Be real. Use social media to grow your brand. Diversify your income stream. Find your business buddies / tribe / network – and help each other grow your businesses. Be consistent. LISTEN. Adapt to change. Be open. HAVE FUN.
