7. What does it mean to you to have a strong, engaging brand and how has having one helped you?

Having a brand voice is super important. When you speak with a voice that is consistent and authentic, people are naturally drawn to you. The blog (or social media) posts where I’ve been honest and vulnerable have always been the ones that get the most engagement. I debated for many years about whether or not to operate under a brand name, but in the end, I realized that I very much am my brand. People find me through word of mouth, and they know I am just one woman. I am very personable in my approach with my clients, and that also translates into my writing, my services, and my products. It means people know what to expect from me, and that keeps them interested and engaged. I used to fight that personal element, thinking it wasn’t “professional” to get so personal with my clients. Eventually, I realized that it’s my secret weapon (and business advantage), and the thing that people love about working with me.

8. What is your #1 tip for fellow women entrepreneurs?

You are going to hear a lot of advice and information from a lot of different people. It is important to remember that it is up to you to distill that information and do what feels right for you. Don’t compare, and don’t try to be something that you’re not. Tell your story, and be yourself. People are naturally drawn to stories, and the more you can bring your story into your brand, the easier it will be to run your business. It’s not just helpful, it’s ESSENTIAL. Do what comes naturally, and be consistent about it. Be relatable, honest, and authentic, and the rest will fall into place.
